8 Reasons for SG-1's 8th Season.

8. Lost City? Not so much anymore.
After years of searching for the lost city of Atlantis all over the galaxy, Dr. Jackson finally unlocks the secrets of the location of the city, and a spinoff is born.

7. Crossovers
Although both shows can be viewed without the other, it's more fun to watch both. The subtle inside jokes and references in each show make fans feel "in on" both series.

6. Concise Summaries
"Citizen Joe" is one of the best episodes out there, just for the fact that it neatly compiles the major events of the entire show from beginning to present. It also contains lots of little nods to fans and inside jokes on the show. Dan Castellanata's appearance itself is because of Richard Dean Anderson's love of the Simpsons.

5. Tugging at our Heartstrings
Unfortunately, in season 8 we have to say our good-byes to Jacob Carter/Selmak. Although very sad to lose a valuable ally as well as Carter's father, the show still catches our hearts even 8 years after its appearance on television.

4. Recurring Cast Members
Season 8 gives us the last days of Jacob Carter/Selmak, as well as the reappearance of Anubis, ex-Vice President Kinsey, the Trust, Replicarter, and Ba'al, who is setting up to become the last Goa'uld with any remaining power.

3. Sam's Feminine Side
We get a little peek into the other world of Samantha Carter as she accepts Pete Shanahan's proposal and begins planning her wedding. Although many (including me) were grateful when she finally decided against getting married, we can still appreciate this glimpse into a side of Carter that had remained dormant for eight years previous: a social life.

2. Decisive Victories
This is the season when a lot of the antagonist storylines began wrapping up to make room for new threats like the Lucian Alliance and the Ori. The Replicators are at last defeated, the Goa'uld System Lords suffer heavy losses and are effectively drained of power, and Anubis is defeated (thanks to Oma Desala).

1. Moebius
Moebius is admittedly my favorite episode for many reasons. I love the alternate timeline, the Puddle Jumper is such a fun reference to Atlantis, I think it's funny when they get stuck in ancient Egypt, the inside jokes are everywhere, it was supposed to wrap up the season neatly (and had it been the end, it would have been neatly tied together), and last but not least...DAVID HEWLETT APPEARS IN THE ALTERNATE TIMELINE!!

Later!

"Gate Ship. It's a ship that goes through the gate. Well, I thought it was clever."
